Orchard Hygiene

Fallen Peach Bounty

As romantic as fallen fruits may appear on the ground, they encourage pests and diseases to proliferate and
carry over the following year. It is good orchard hygiene to remove the fallen fruits from the bases of the trees –
if the fruits are either diseased or infested, they are best discarded rather than allowed to rot in the compost heap. Admittedly it’s a good problem to have when you have too much fruit from your trees!
