It seems that July has leapfrogged to September for the hot muggy days associated with August have not materialized, replaced with comfortable daytime temperatures of mid 70s to low 80s and cool nights of high 50s and low 60s. Peaches and apricots are already giving way to apples and pears, although plums are still going strong as evidenced in the recipe for easy plum ice cream. This month brings back the fat issues of magazines especially those in fashion - Phaidon covers how Man Ray helped Guy Bourdain make fashion more bold and daring. Not is all good on the ecological front - the sequoias in California face an uncertain future and the New York State Governor Cuomo makes it illegally to sell elephant tusk ivory and rhinoceros horns. Art is still big - Millais did research to paint Ophelia.
