A line is a dot...

view of the River Jaudy from Kerdalo, France

A line is a dot that went for a walk. - Paul Klee

Once one warm late summer afternoon, while visiting the beautiful gardens of Kerdalo, a piece of charcoal was found on the ground next to a picnic that a friend and I were having.  Finding it odd, I made a quick sketch of that view from the bank overlooking the River Jaudy with that small sliver of charcoal.  Later we were told that one year  fireworks were set off in the river, with some landing at Kerdalo causing a small forest fire in the lower woods and destroying some of the trees.  The woods have since recovered but the charcoal provided just enough to capture a moment in time.

And did you know charcoal pencils are made from compressed burnt bamboo?
