The platform between art and horticulture.

If I give someone....

If I give someone....

Chelsea Flower Show crowd "If I give someone a horsetail he will have no difficulty making a photographic-enlargement of it- anyone can do that. But to observe it, to notice and discover its forms, is something only few are capable of." - Karl Blossfeldt, 1929

During two days in London last week, I realized the irony in being a single spectator among the large crowds at the Chelsea Flower Show, jostling for a closeup view of each garden exhibited during its centenary year and visiting the White Chapel Gallery for an exhibition of Karl Blossfeldt's photographic collection of magnified plant portraits, where each minute detail was magically captured.  The common thread  both days were the times when art and horticulture intertwined, and those are some of my favorite moments.   -J
